Booking policy

It is Staff Housing's main priority to provide short to medium term accommodation for new permanent academics, visiting academics as well as new senior permanent non-academic staff members.

Transit accommodation could vary up to six months for permanent academic / non-academic staff new to Cape Town, who have accepted an appointment before having found permanent accommodation in Cape Town. In exceptional cases this transit accommodation may be provided for periods of up to twelve months but should not exceed twelve months.

In addition to the above, Staff Housing also provides accommodation for contract academic staff/non-academic staff under the same condition as permanent staff.

Staff Housing strives to house visiting academics or researchers (affiliated to a department at UCT) depending on availability to come to Cape Town for periods up to six months. Only in exceptional circumstances shall a person in this category be allowed to occupy a Staff House for a period longer than twelve months.

If you do qualify, please send an email to staffhousing@uct.ac.za and indicate your flat preferences (1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartment) so that we can place you accordingly. If a corresponding apartment is available you will be furnished with further details regarding the booking process.

Cancellation policy

A deposit of R1500,00 must be paid once the booking has been made as it will constitute a valid booking. In the event of any cancellation, 20% of the deposit will be retained.
